Minister for the Stewardship of Our Carbon Footprint
(1/4 TIME)
The Bishops of Province I of the Episcopal Church (New England) seek a highly qualified person to provide leadership and resources to provincial and diocesan efforts in reducing energy use and carbon footprints across the church in New England. This is a ¼ time position (approximately 10 hours per week) that reports to the President of the Province.
General Responsibilities:
- Develop resources for the bishops and dioceses of New England (including an annotated listing of best practices in church institutions) for reducing energy use and the carbon footprint of church properties
- Establish effective communication tools (including Facebook page) and build collaborative efforts across the Province for regional training, local education, and the implementation of strategies and practical tools to reduce energy use and the carbon footprint of church properties
- Seek out grant and rebate programs for use by dioceses and parishes
- Provide linkage with Episcopal Church Environmental Stewardship and Interfaith Power and Light efforts
- Create an annual consultation for the Province I House of Bishops and participate in periodic additional consulting with bishops as requested on specific needs and opportunities for reducing energy use and carbon footprints
- Report monthly to Bishops’ Environment Committee
The successful candidate should have skills in communication technology and be able to work both independently and in collaboration with church leaders. Reasonable job-related expenses, including for travel, communications, and office supplies will be fully reimbursed.
The Province will provide a compensation package for a 1/4 time position commensurate with the candidate’s experience.
